Scarce edition with bright red cloth, gold embossed lettering and designs on cover and spine; white pictorial landscape on front cover. Good condition, minor bumps on edge of crown and heel of spine and coners, otherwise very good. Frontispiece and illustrations throughout. 491 pp. plus adverts. No date listed, circa 1901-1910. No dj. Banned in 1881 for the love story. Augusta Jane Wilson was an American author during the American Civil War whose books were banned by the Amer Library Assoc in 1881. She was the first woman to earn US $100,000 through her writing.
