Smythe was one of the greatest mountaineers of his age, and was also a pioneer in mountain photography. In this book, his generous spirit shines through, as he offers personal insights into the fascination of the mountaineering spirit. His experiences and photos take us through many areas from Derwentwater to the Matterhorn, from the Himalayas to Kangchenjunga and beyond.
