About This Item
Alan Dumayne. Very Good/Very Good. 1989. Hard Cover. 8vo 0951228609 Second edition. Dust jacket complete, unclipped. Publisher's green leatherette type cloth with bright gilt titling on spine. No ownership marks. Photographs on plates. 157 pages clean and tight. Alan Dumayite is local lad, whose boyhood was spent in Winchmore Hill. From the age of 4, he attended Highfield Road School and then progressed to Southgate County School in Fox Lane, Palmers Green. He became a director in his father's building firm, but has recently retired. In his teens Alan excelled at sport, but severe groin trouble soon prevented any active participation, though he still retains a keen interest. After National Service, he married a local girl, Sheila, and, in 1958, they moved from Winchmore Hill to Southgate. They have a son, Richard, and a daughter, Jackie. For many years, apart from helping to organise his old school's reunions, Alan's hobbies have included local history and photography. He has been able to combine both in giving his illustrated talks to many of our local societies. In these talks, and indeed in this book, his love of the area in which he grew up, is there for us all to share and enjoy. Front Cover: Christ Church in Waterfall Lane. .
