London: Herbert Jenkins Limited,, 1917. First edition, first impression, number 207 of 280 copies printed on handmade paper and signed by the author. Patrick MacGill (1889-1963) was known as the "navvy poet", Soldier Songs "collected his war verse with a valuable preface on songs the soldiers made" (ODNB). Octavo. Original green buckram over bevelled boards, titles gilt to spine and front cover, top edge gilt, others untrimmed. Ownership inscription to front free endpaper, "Elsie Bantoft, 8 Westerfield Road, [Ipswich] 1918". Some silverfishing to binding, but a sound and internally fresh copy, very good overall. Bantoft: Record of Service of Solicitors and Articled Clerks with His Majesty's Forces 1914-1919 (1920), pp. 23-4.
