About This Item

London: Hamish Hamilton, 1965. Near fine (slightly darkened top edges; 1 tiny ink dot on ffep) in very good+ dust jacket (spine and edges lightly sunned; light edgewear; not price-clipped). Dust jacket art by Duncan Grant. The story is set in the Arab quarter of Morocco, but the characters are all rather out-of-place in this apparently exotic setting but they bring with them all sorts of maladjustments and dangers. 300 pages. Margaret Lane was at one time the highest-paid British woman journalist but is perhaps best-known for her two books about Beatrix Potter which became the basis for the later BBC film, "The Tale of Beatrix Potter." She also wrote more than two dozen books of which this is one of her later novels. . 1st Edition. Hard Cover.
