The first edition of this study of small English houses from the sixteenth century to the twentieth century. First edition of The Smaller English House 1500-1939 by Reginald Turnor in the original publisher's cloth binding and clipped dust wrapper. A story of English architecture from late medieval times up to the start of the Second World War, studying the architecture of homes owned by middle class populations over time.Densely illustrated with one hundred and ninety figures throughout the text and monochrome photographs on plates, including a colour plate as the frontispiece. Collated, complete. In the original publisher's cloth binding and clipped dust wrapper. Externally, very smart. There is some light bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities.
