New York: HarperCollins, (1995 text; 1996 for translation). First American edition, advance issue, signed in ink by Kundera at the ffep. Octavo (8.5" x 5.75"), [4], 164 & [1] pages. Publisher's black paper backed in black cloth lettered in silver on the spine & upper cover, in pictorial slipcase, the front panel die cut to reveal the title below. Issued without dust jacket.
A fine copy in very good or better slipcase with light rubbing along the edges.
The noted author's first book to be originally written in French rather than Czech, here translated to English. Milan Kundera passed away in 2023.
