About This Item

New York: Horace Liveright, 1929. First Edition. Hardcover with dust jacket. Near Fine/Very Good-. Jacks or Sacks (dust jacket illustration). 8vo. Pp. 280. Bound in blue cloth with gilt lettering stamped on cover and spine. Binding tight, clean throughout. In the Illustrated dust jacket that has old library-tape verso, along top and bottom edges, edge-wear, and a previous owner's unsophisticated effort to color the filled-in chip at head of spine to match jacket color. Price of $2.00 intact on front flap. The dust jacket art, by "Sacks" or "Jacks" is an enigmatic depiction of doomed murderer John Musselman. Bodenheim's lively prose captures the essence of the bohemian life he lived, well before his own murder.

Dust jacket is now preserved in a clear, removable archival sleeve.
