New York: Trident Press, 1967. Hardcover, octavo, olive green cloth boards with maroon and black lettering, in illustrated dust jacket, 434 pp,. Very good/Very good jacket, lightly chipped head and tail of spine with some soiling, very small chips and tears abound around edges and corners, light toning to both sides with some creasing to back cover. Design by Charles and Cuffari. No edition statement on printer's page and Trident Press is excluded from Verkler and Zempel's guide to first editions despite being an imprint of Simon and Schuster. Presumed to be a first edition considering the history of Trident Press's publishing trademarks of leaving the edition ; outthough unverifiable through any trade citation. Nonetheless, an early hardcover printing with original price on front flap of dust jacket of Killens' 3rd novel.
