Hermann. Produced in full compliane with wartime War Prodction Board Conservation orders. Blue cloth binding is clean and unmarked, light wear and scuffing to corners and spine edges, blind-stamped title on front, gilt titles to spine; binding tight, solid and square. Former owner name on endpaper. Pages quite clean, no marks of any kind, no creases. Lion Feuchtwanger ( 1884 -1958) , novelist, theater critic, playwright. was designated number 1 enemy by Hitler. He was a fierce critic of the Nazi Party. " Simone ", is a novel set in German-occupied France in 1940 and is a story of a young French woman who fights against the Germans in her own way with courage and defiance and ends up being punished by her own townspeople. The book was later dramatised by Bertolt Brecht and Lion Feuchtwanger as " Des Geschichte der Simone Machard. " . 238 pages. 5.25 x 8 inches. 1944, Viking, New York.
