About This Item

Boston: Bullfinch Press, 1990. 1st. Hardcover. 4to. 351pp. 473 illustrations (371 in color). Bibliography; Index. Fine in fine dust jacket, in somewhat worn slipcase. From the personal library of noted chef, Robert Kincaid, and INSCRIBED by him to his wife. A lushly produced catalogue on the museum's important and extensive collection of English and French silk designs, with special emphasis on fabrics designed and woven during the eighteenth century. The collection includes some of the earliest examples to have survived anywhere, with the exception of a few medieval Italian patterns. "The diversity is astonishing - motifs ranging from lilies and wild daisies to exotic fruit, butterflies, castles by the sea, ruined temples, and patterns based on leopard spots, abstracts, or diamond latticework... as brilliant and fresh today as they were two centuries ago." - dustjacket flap. All domestic orders are fully trackable - Images available upon request.
