Decorated endpapers. Bound in red cloth with elaborate black lettering and vignette stamped on front board and spine. In the color illustrated dust jacket, $1.75 price intact. A Chinese story for boys, endorsed by Sum Nung Au-Young as accurately portraying life among the upper-class Chinese, "already converted to the dress and to the social usages of other countries," in Shanghai. The restrained dust jacket design by Erick Berry, in black, red and yellow, presents a striking illustration. Dust jacket now enclosed in a removable, clear archival sleeve.
