About This Item
Victor Gollancz: London, 1979. First edition (& 1st printing). Hardcover. Collects seven stories, including the short novel THE BIG TIME. Nice wraparound colour dustjacket art from Fred Gambino. LIMITED EDITION: 500 numbered copies signed by the author. ADDITIONALLY SIGNED BY COVER ARTIST FRED GAMBINO. Produced specially for Seacon 1979, the World SF Convention held in Brighton, England at which the author was Guest of Honour. Interestingly enough, this limited edition (priced £3.00 on the dustjacket) was issued at a much CHEAPER price than the regular hardcover which had a dustjacket price of £6.95 - which I suspect had more to do with Gollancz having a large quantity left unsold in their warehouse than for altruistic reasons. I mean, a limited/signed edition costing half the price of the unsigned trade, is the world going mad? And to cap it all, the limited edition was later remaindered as well (I know, because I bought all copies at the time). This is no 348. Fine copy in a fine dustjacket (as new).
