About This Item

London: Folio Society, 2023. Limited Edition . Fine Binding. New. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. González, Jorge. Sold out Folio Society edition, limited to only 500 hand-numbered sets, signed by the artist, Jorge González. This copy has also been signed by the late author, Carlos Ruiz Zafón (1964-2020), by way of a bookplate which was originally signed for the US edition of 'The City of Mist' but not used. The bookplate is laid in so the new owner can decide whether or not to attach it to the book. It would look great on the blank page facing the FS limitation page with the artist's signature. Carlos Ruiz Zafón's best-selling phenomenon 'The Shadow of the Wind' is beautifully presented as a spectacular, leather-bound, limited edition with a new preface by translator Lucia Graves and atmospheric artwork by Jorge González. Limitation tip signed by Jorge González. Bound in leather blocked in gold foil. 496 pages set in Sabon. 7 double-page colour illustrations. Illustrated black & white title-page spread. Gilded page tops. Ribbon marker. Slipcase covered with printed cloth and with hidden illustration inside. Exclusive print in presentation folder. 10'' x 6¾''. Dawn is breaking in post-war Barcelona when Daniel's father guides him through the mist to a mysterious building hidden in the heart of the old city. Here in the Cemetery of Forgotten Books, ten-year-old Daniel is allowed to choose one from the thousands of abandoned volumes that line the labyrinthine corridors. Inexplicably drawn to The Shadow of the Wind, the boy clutches his prize, unaware of the fantastical and frightening chain of events that its discovery triggers; a mystery that will see the new custodian embark on a dangerous quest to reveal the book's shocking secrets. A captivating story of huge historical and fantastical scope, this book about books became an international bestseller and remains beloved the world over. With this beautiful limited edition, you can step into Daniel's shoes and choose 'La Sombra del Viento' directly from the Cemetery of Forgotten Books. Its sumptuous leather binding, blocked in gold and with a gilded top edge, is an exact replica of Daniel's own magical discovery. Limited to just 500 numbered copies, each edition is signed by the artist Jorge González and presented in a cloth-bound slipcase with a design depicting the enchanting interior of the emporium. Hidden inside the slipcase the illustration of the magical library continues, while González has also created seven double-page illustrations that are woven throughout the novel and recreate Ruiz Zafón's Barcelona. The limited edition includes an exclusive print, as well as a beautifully written new preface by translator Lucia Graves, who first brought this literary phenomenon to an anglophone readership. This copy includes a bookplate signed by the author, as well as the artist's signature which all other copies have. In brand new condition and original packaging as received directly from The Folio Society. Unwrapped to photograph and check for any quality issues but none noted. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. Heavy/oversize. U.K. postage at default rate but international buyers will be asked for extra. Enquiries welcome. All orders professionally packed, tracked and/or signed for, and fully insured.
