About This Item

Book shows very little wear, although I cannot inspect the cover's exterior because the dust jacket is taped on. The pages are clean, tight and bright, with little to indicate they've ever been read. The only mark is a date inside the front cover. Along with being taped to the book, it has a taped-on label ("biography") on the lower part of the spine. The jacket is price clipped and the top edges are turned where the tape was applied. The book itself consists of six short portraits of people who appear to have been friends of the author. Included are T. S. Eliot, Truman Capote, Elizabeth Bowen, Edith Sitwell, Henri Cartier-Bresson, and Alice B. Toklas. Brinnin appears to both observer and participant in the scenes recounted.
