London: Longman, Green, Longman, and Roberts, 1860. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good+. Octavo. TWO VOLUMES. Original invoice from George Bayntun, dated Oct. 1959, for $18.90, laid in, for this binding. Bound by Bayntun in 3/4 black leather, raised bands, spines decorated in gilt; marbled edges. Complete. Illustrated with 58 tinted woodcuts, by A. Joliet, 3 plates of ancient Indian music, and a map showing the actual situation of the Indian tribes and the country described by the author. Internally fine, with plates clean and bright; map has 2 short repairs, with tan Japan paper; some gilt is worn from spines, but overall, very attractive. Howes D410.
