New York: Grosset & Dunlap, 1948 No. 19 of the Judy Bolton series. Judy's friend Roxy and her father are being held prisoner in Roxy's home by a group of criminals. Roxy and Judy trade places so that Roxy can take care of a certain bit of business and also fetch Peter. Judy is left alone with the criminals and must fool them about her true identity until help comes. Refers to The Forbidden Chest on front flap of DJ, refers to Cherry Ames Rest Home Nurse on rear flap of the DJ, refers to the Vicki Barr's The Mystery of the Vanishing Lady on back of DJ. Condition notes: (viii), 216 numbered pp; HB w/DJ. Pages: clean, bright, tight, brown topstain, decorative cream/brown eps, frontis; f.e. a bit grubby. Cover: brown tweed, black artwork and titles front, black titles spine; v lt shelfwear, extrems barely worn, small white stain to head. DJ: clipped, color artwork and black/white titles front/spine; moderate edge/shelfwear w/ several small closed tears head tattered with some loss, narrow loss at tail, wear to extrems. DJ on front cover offset a bit with the last letters of titles and authors name wrapped to the inside front flap. A decent copy.
