The islands were ruled by Admiral Robert, who was a noted racist, antisemitic, and collaborationist. An armed uprising by the citizens of the islands in 1943 freed them of Vichy control. The appendices contain a partial list of the Free French Forces in Dominica during this period. A fascinating history of a little known aspect of World War II. This is a near fine copy with light creasing to the top edge of a couple of page. Inscribed and signed by the author on the title page.
