About This Item
1891 1ed Famous French ART The Salon Steel Engravings Paintings Beaux-Arts HUGE
At the end of the 19th-century, the Goupil company published one of the most remarkable collections of art known simply as 'The Salon'. Beginning in 1889, this recurring work features the artwork of notable sculptors and painters including artists from the Societe Nationale des Beaux-Arts.
This 1891 English edition was collected by Antonin Proust and translated into English by Henry Bacon. The dozens of steel engravings throughout this book are highly desirable and are often extracted to be displayed by themselves; however, this work is fully intact, not lacking any plate. (See photos for a full list of included artists.)
