London, Kegan Paul, Trench Trubner & Co. Ltd., 1904 1st Ltd Ed. 350 Copies.. Two Volumes. Tall hardback, 11.5 x 9 inches. Half bound with vellum to spines with paper spine labels, and light blue/grey paper to boards. Plain page edges and endpapers. In very good condition. Some minor darkening and handling marks to vellum on spines, some rubbing and chips to edges of spine labels. Endpapers darkened on free-sides, with two previous owners bookplates “William Edward Oates 1897,” and “Robert Washington Oates.” Some mild foxing to prelims and title page in vol.1, with mild foxing to map. One or two occasional minor handling marks to inside pages else all very clean, bright and tight throughout. Else very good clean and tight copies. 280 & 225pp. With 30 & 22 B&W photo illustrations on full-page plates (some 2 per page), and many smaller photo illustrations in text. Folding map at front of vol.1. Oates Memorial Library & Museum and The Gilbert White Museum.
