London; MacMillan & Company, Ltd., 1881., 1881. Hardcover. FIRST EDITION. xi,168 pp,32 advertisements. Book Condition: Very Good. Original tan cloth with black-stamped decoration and gilt titles. Edges rubbed with wear at joints, corners and head & tail of spine. Endpapers cracked but inner hinges sound; contemporary newspaper clipping pasted to verso ffep with comments from the Author about his fellow colonists, above which is a handwritten name in pencil. Toning mainly to page edges, with very light foxing and fingermarking to first leaves. Written by the President of the Board to answer questions from prospective settlers back in the UK about the colony and its prospects, including Colonel Killigrew's report on soil and agriculture. Scarce in hardcover.
