Condition is VERY GOOD ; covers very clean and fresh but with a small area of loss at the upper front edge. Binding tight and text spotless. "A grand piano underneath the bough, a gramaphone, a Chinese gong, and Thou, trying to sing an anthem off the key, oh, paradise, were wilderness enow!" Humor. RGR.

Frontispiece, full-page line drawings, decorative borders. Good. Outer wrappers typically worn, with 1½" chip at tail of spine; as always, text block moderately age toned. First edition of this delicate tongue-in-cheek production "Translated from the Original Bornese into English Verse" by this American author of humorous verse, sketches, pastiches and much other foolishness (1875-1959). Believe it or not, this decent but handle-with-care copy is about as good as the softbound edition gets.

Translated from the Original Bornese into English Verse By Wallace Irwin, Author of "The Love Sonnets of a Hoodlum," with Eight Illustrations and Cover Design by Gelett Burgess. Soft-bound in black wrappers with gilt, silver, and darker black stamping/printing on the upper cover, and black stamping on the lower cover. The covers show some faint sunning near the title on the upper cover, and light wear/small closed tears to the edges. There is some tearing to the spine-ends. The binding is solid. The contents are bright and clean with nice illustrations. .
