Faint spotting to endpapers, otherwise very good in slightly used, near very good dust jacket, with slight marking, slight wear at head of spine and faint fading at spine. . 8vo. pp 270. Autobiographical. Original publisher's red cloth, lettered gilt on spine. Signed presentation from the author, Lovat Dickson (appears to be known to his friends as 'Rache') on the front endpaper to Margaret Storm Jameson (1891�1986) an English journalist and author, ""To Margaret, in affection and admiration, from Rache 30/x/59."" In 1938, Dickson sold his catalogue to the publisher Peter Llewelyn Davies and joined the staff of Macmillan and Company in London. In 1940 he became a director and the following year, 1941, he was appointed the company�s general manager, a position he held until his retirement in 1964. Including the ownership signature of Margaret Storm Jameson on the front pastedown. Including a typed signed letter from Lovat Dickson to Storm Jameson, loosely inserted discussing the publisher Penguin and reviews, ""I am sending you a copy of 'The Ante-room' which comes out on November 12th... if I had not been encouraged by your letter about it after you had read the proofs, I would be more terrified than I am by the approach of this day.""
