Denis Smith is a professor emeritus of political science and former dean of social science at the University of Western Ontario. Diefenbaker , is the definitive biography of Canada's thirteenth prime minister, and was followed by The Prisoners of Cabrera , the story of Napoleon’s forgotten soldiers. He has twice won the John W. Dafoe Prize for historical writing and the University of British Columbia Medal for Canadian Biography.
