About This Item
London: New Authors Limited, 1967. First Edition. First edition, first printing. 223 pp. Bound in publisher's black cloth with silver lettering. Near Fine witha hint of foxing to edges, literary agency (Jonathan Clowes Ltd.) bookplate on front free endpaper; in a bright, unsunned Near Fine dust jacket with a little of the laminate lifting that seems to plague these jackets in its gutters, small scuff along spine edge, unclipped.
A very nice copy of the novel that inspired the 1973 classic The Wicker Man, a "folk horror" film with a strong cult following and slow but steadily-growing chorus of critical acclaim. It was the British actor/author's first novel, quickly falling out of print.
