Viking, London, 1997. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good Condition/Good. Illustrator: photographs & diagrams. List of plates, acknowledgements, Prologue: "We Love You Dick", bibliography and index. Between pages 142 and 143 there are eight pages of black and white photography. Dark red coloured end pages. Black coloured boards with silver coloured titles to the back strip. Photographic dustwrapper with white, blue and red coloured titles to the front panel and red and white coloured titles to the back strip. A biography of Richard Feynman, winner of a Nobel Prize for his discoveries concerning the behaviour of electrons, which shows that for him, physics – that was why he did it. He saw the world in a unique way, and have the extraordinary gift of being able to provide the vision in terms of formulae and to describe it in such a way that other people could share his understanding. And his work was always directly linked to the real world: once, watching a plate with a decoration on it spinning and wobbling, he noticed that the plate and the decoration wobbled at different speeds. He worked at the ratio and from that came the discoveries concerning the behaviour of electrons that won him the Noble prize. – From the dust jacket blurb. Minor rubbing of the book corners and softening of the back strip. Very light age toning of the text block edges. Chipping of the top corner of the front panel and there is a little creasing of the top dustwrapper edge. Rubbing of the panels with fading of the back strip. Remnants of a sticker can be seen to the top left hand corner of the front panel. Full number line. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. XVIII, 302 pages. Please refer to accompanying picture (s).
