About This Item
London: Tinsley Brothers, 1865. 1st Edition. Cloth. Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. 1st edition. A Good set. Three volume set, complete. 8vo. Publisher's green cloth with gilt spine titles. The cloth of Volume One is Good +, the other two volumes are Very Good. All volumes lack the first free end paper, remnant of a subscription library book plate on all three front paste downs, no other library marks of any kind. All hinges tight save volume one with front and rear hinges cracked but still well on but causing a slight spine cock. Each volume has the beautiful small leather book plate of W. Van R. Whitall whose distiguished library was sold by the American Art Association in 1927. This is considered one of, if not the, hardest Meredith novel to obtain.
