London: John Murray, 1924. These thirteen "adventures" were first published in 1905; this is a Very Good (Plus) copy of the thin paper edition (stated "This Edition on Thin Paper first issued..1924"). A scarce edition. Red cloth binding with nicely-decorated gilt on the spine; the front cover is ruled and has Doyle's initials in gilt. Clean text; 316 pages, with eight pages of publisher's adverts in the rear; red topstain. Bookplate on the front paste-down, with the owner's notation on the FFEP that it was read in August 1925; there is a second (different) signature as well, this one dated 1948. Some light fade around the margins and a slight lean. Close to a Near Fine copy. No dustwrapper; in an archival plastic protector.. First Thus. Decorative Cloth. Very Good (Plus)/No Jacket. 16mo - over 5¾" - 6¾" tall.
