Slight rubbing to covers (leather over cloth; chiefly to edges); slight internal browning and/or foxing (chiefly to edges and endpapers). 239, [4] pages. Collection of 23 essays in all; dedicated to the author's mother. Also notable for the selection of 'press opinions' and list of the author's works at rear (as published by John Lane, The Bodley Head). BMC, volume 14, page 15, column 373 (date is from this source; not dated in book). Bound in 3/4 dark green morocco over dark blue cloth, gilt-stamped and decorated spine with partly raised bands, covers ruled gilt, light green marbled endpapers, t.e.g., remaining edges trimmed. In supplied clear mylary protective jacket.
