(7.3 x 4.7 inches). xii, 216pp. A very good copy of this first English edition, translated from the original French edition of 1742 by James Elphinston. Contemporary full brown calf. Both hinges recently repaired and new red title label, ruled and lettered in gilt, to spine. Board edges rubbed and bumped. Previous owners names, dated 1760, on front paste down endpaper. Overall a very good book in a presentable early binding.:
