Oxford : Printed for the Dean and Chapter of Durham Cathedral at The Oxford University Press, 1956. First Edition, First Impression First Printing. Hardcover. Good/Good. Folio - over 12 - 15" tall. Limited edition of 750 copies. Ex-university library copy with only evidence being to ffep and verso of title page, and to spines of book and jacket. Minor marking to page edges but internally, the book is in fine condition: clean, crisp and tight without inscriptions, foxing or other markings. Hinges sound. Bound in blue buckram with gilt lettering and Durham crest: all clean and bright with bumping/rubbing to edges. The unclipped dust jacket is grubby on the outside but the inner flaps are clean. There are numerous small chips and tears to the edges with some small losses, mainly to the corners. xv, 561 pp. Fully illustrated with 58 plates in colour and monochrome collotype, and with a large number of photographs of comparative material. Folio - over 12 - 15" tall. Heavy/oversize. U.K. postage at default charge but oversea buyers will be asked for extra. Enquiries welcome.
