Lovett Gill. Illustrated profusely throughout. The first edition of this work. This work looks in detail in to the architecture of the West of England, in particular at Cornwall, Devon, and Exeter, discussing how the regional architecture developed over history, with the influences of popular trends of architecture. Illustrated throughout with numerous full page and in-text illustrations. Written by A. E. Richardson and C. Lovett Gill. Richardson was a leading English architect, being the Professor of Architecture of the University College London, as well as being the editor of the 'Architects' Journal'. His other works include 'The Significance of the Fine Arts', and 'London Houses from 1660 to 1820'. Gill was a Scottish architect and a fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects. Institutional label to the front pastedown, and institutional stamps to the front endpaper, and title page. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart. Evidence of a label being formerly adhered to the tail of the spine. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Institutional label to the front pastedown.
