A limited edition work, a facsimile edition limited to one-hundred copies.Reprint of the original 1528 Strasburg edition.A satirical pre-Reformation satire, attacking Roman Catholicism and Cardinal Thomas Wolsey.Sometimes titled 'The Burying of the Mass', this verse is vehemently against the priesthood and monastic orders.Satirical woodcut of Cardinal Wolsey's coat of arms to the title page.Printed in black letter.The work is attributed to William Roy by the British Museum Catalogue and the Dictionary of National Biography, though sometimes attributes Jerome Barlow as a joint author.Bookplate of Herbert S. Squance to the front pastedown. Bookplate of Bernard Warrington, Pickering Collection, to the recto to the front endpaper. Newspaper clipping about the book pasted to the recto to the front endpaper. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, generally smart. Front joint is a little cracked. Minor marks and discolouration to the boards and spine. A little loss to the spine label. Front hinge is starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and generally clean with some odd spots. Good
