The second edition, published in the same year as the first.A selection of recollections by Samuel Rogers, reminiscing on various conversations he had his many of his distinguished friends throughout his long life, such as Edward Burke and Charles Fox.This volume also includes 'Porsoniana'.Rogers was a Romantic poet who, despite being very celebrated during his lifetime, has been eclipsed by his colleagues such as Byron and Coleridge since his death. He was great friends with many popular romantic poets, and kept enlightening and amusing recollections of the artistic and literary life of London in that era.Bookplate of James Watson to the front paste down. Ink notes to the front endpapers and title page. In a half calf binding with marbled paper to the boards. Externally, generally smart. Loss of some paper to the front board and tail of the rear board. Spine is a little faded. Some minor marks to the boards. Bookplate to the front paste down. Ink notes to the front endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with the occasional spot. Ink note to the title page and annotations to pages throughout. Very Good
