About This Item
The third novel published by the English novelist Daphne Du Maurier
8vo. 379 pp. Full leather binding. Gold letter "R" on the front; titles in gold on the spine. Beautiful hand-painted endpapers. Small rust stains on the title page, but interiors generally clean and well-maintained. Texts in English.
After its publication in 1938, "Rebecca" was an immediate success, selling nearly 3 million copies between 1938 and 1965, never going out of print, and has been adapted for the stage and film several times. In the United States, it won the National Book Award in 1938, voted on by members of the American Booksellers Association. In the UK, it was included in the number 14 spot on the BBC's 2003 survey "The Nation's Best-loved Novel."
An early and scarce German edition of this beautiful work.
