New York: The Engineering News Publishing Co. Copyright is 1901, with preface to the second edition dated 1900. Laid in is a carbon copy of a letter from The Wheeling & Lake Erie R. R. Co. appointing Mr. A. B. Griggs as Assistant Engineer Maintenance of Way. Griggs was a previous owner of this volume, with his name, location, and date of June 30, 1906 on the front free end page. Burgundy cloth covers are rubbed and scuffed, and there is a little light wear at spine ends and corners. Top hinge (Internal) is broke, though cover is held with webbing. Contents are generally clean and intact. Letter shows a few small tears and wear on the edges, but text is clear. . Second Edition. Cloth - Hard Cover. Fair/No Dust Jacket.

Exterior shows darkening of the cloth along with minor edge and corner bumps. Internal binding is good and text pages are tight, no hinge issues. Front end page contains several signatures of the original engineers, no other handwriting found in book. No bookplates or library markings. Paper is toned due to age and there is some very minor spotting/foxing present. Also included with the book are two pieces of ephemera that were found between the pages. The first piece is an advertising chart from The P&M Company which contains charts and calculations for anti-creepers and fraud points. The second piece is a handwritten sheet which spells out the estimated cost of proposed track improvement, Block's (Black's?) to Wheeling Park. These pieces are included with the book.
