Description:
Nijmegen: Gebr. Janssen, 1964. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good. A very good copy which has been rebound in red cloth lettered in gilt on the spine and upper board. Label of "Dictionary of the Older Scottish Tongue" on front fixed end-paper but no other markings in the book. Pp.ix,275. 4 plates. Two maps at end of volume. Kennedy was a scholar and abbot who was an "ardent defender of the pre-Reformation church in Scotland." These two tracts, one on the Mass and the other "on the presence of Christ in the Eucharist" together "embody Kennedy's eucharistic teaching and easily constitute the most completre expository statement in Middle Scots of pre-Reformation doctrine on the subject.
