In 'A Private in the Guards', Graham presents fifteen essays regarding different aspects of his life as a soldier. He also ruminates on the meaning of way and the human cost that comes with having an elite military unit. Essays include 'Notes on Discipline', 'Espirit de Corps', 'War the Brutaliser', 'France Under the Cloud', 'The March to the Rhine', and more.Graham was a journalist and travel writer, who is best known for his works on travels during pre-revolutionary Russia.Four pages of publisher's adverts to the rear. In the original publisher"s cloth binding, in the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, smart. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spine. A few light marks to the boards. Dust wrapper is edge worn, with chips and tears, heavier to the head of the rear wrap, and head of the front wrap. Spine is a little age-toned, with some light handling marks to the wraps. Rear joint is torn. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Near Fine
