Remains particularly well-preserved overall. Physical description; 234 pp. Notes; ""Of this book, first published by Jonathan Cape in 1946, two thousand copies were printed at Christmas 1957 for Sir Allen Lane and Richard Lane by McCorquodale & Co Ltd, London, and bound by the Dorstel Press Ltd, Harlow, Essex. The endpapers were designed by David Gentleman and printed by Lowe & Brydon Ltd, London. The book was composed entirely without metal type: it is the first to have been produced in Great Britain by means of photocomposition on the Intertype Fotosetter.""--Colophon. Synopsis

Private Angelo was written by Scottish author Eric Linklater and first published in 1946. It had subsequently been made into a 1949 film of the same name by Pilgrim Pictures, produced by and starring Peter Ustinov as well as adapted for the stage by Mike Maran Productions. The novel covers the (mis)adventures of an Italian soldier during World War II.
