Bradbury and Evans, 1856. First Edition. Leather Binding. Very Good. 8 volume set, complete as issued. Attractively bound in period tan calf over marbled boards, spines with raised bands, contrasting red and green morocco labels, and stylized gilt floral tooling within gilt-ruled compartments, marbled edges and endpapers (has some nicking to tops of spine of some volumes, at least one joint just starting, some rubbing). First edition of this avowedly Popular history - written as the author says, for the people.
