Philadelphia: Carey and Hart, 1845. Second Printing. Leather. Very Good. 8vo. xviii, 779 pp, 4 pp. Full brown calf with gilt-paneled spine and black label. Second printing (BAL 12078) with Collins imprint to copyright page. Boards moderately scuffed and soiled with heavier rubbing to joints and vertical crack to spine leather. Corners bumped with boards starting to push through, front hinge starting but holding firm. Bookplate and pencil signature of previous owner David Thaxter to fpd. Faint dampstaining to top edge and inner margin of text, affecting first 20-30 leaves. Some foxing to eps, rest of text is clean. Engraved frontis portrait and half title. Text block cracked at center but binding sturdy and sound.
