About This Item
London : William Pickering, 1853. Leather. Very Good. 6.5" by 4". None . The Poetical works of William Collins in an Edmonston and Douglas signed binding. Bound in an Edmonston and Douclas signed binding. William Collins was an important 18th century poet. His lyrical odes mark significant literary progress from the classical Augustan poetry of Alexander Pope's generation. Within literary scholarship Collins has been seen as successfully challenging conventional ideas. Though he was largely unsuccessful within his lifetime his poetry continues to have a place within the literary canon. Bound in a morocco binding. Externally generally smart. Rubbing to the boards, joints and spine resulting in minor loss. Internally firmly bound. Damp stain to the frontispiece. Pages bright and clean with marginal age toning. Very Good
