A new edition of the collected poetry of William Collins, an uncommon 1827 edition featuring a biographical sketch of the author by Dr Johnson, observations by Dr Langhorne, and critical notes by Alexander Dyce. Complete with half title.William Collins was an English poet in the mid-eighteenth century. His poetry marks the progression from the Augustan poetry of Alexander Pope's generation towards Romanticism and its ideals. Rebound in full morocco binding with blind stamp to front bard 'S.T.L. Iacobus Elwin Millard.' Externally sound with shelf wear, lightly rubbed to spine, joints, and extremities of boards. Previous owner's ink inscription to recto front blank leaf undated. Internally, firmly bound. Light minor faint spotting to odd leaf only, pages otherwise bright and clean. Very Good
