"Including some poems not hitherto introduced in his works."

I have owned hundreds of Poe books, some of the oldest ever recorded, and this volume contains some exceptional pieces not found in most other printings. I have decided to make a short list here to explain them.

Includes:
1. A seldom-seen highly tooled cover and spine with stunning details
2. A beautiful collection of Artwork I have NEVER found in any Poe book from the 19th century or later
3. The oldest known drawing of Poe's cottage in Fordham, New York
4. A Facsimile of Poe's original handwritten manuscript of The Bells, which I have only ever seen in the 1880 biography of "The Life of Poe" by Gill, Which I also own a copy of.
5. The oldest known artistic rendition of Poe's Mother in law Maria Clemm, and the oldest rendition of his Mother, Eliza Poe, who died in 1811 when Edgar was only two years of age.
6. This book also includes a facsimile of a handwritten letter from Poe and an etching of his gravestone.

A stunning Victorian Era edition of Poe's Poems. This printing has all of Poe's most well-known and monumental works and rarer titles. It includes some exquisite engravings that have all been very well preserved. Other than the lovely collection of his writings, this poetical tome has an extensive memoir of Poe and his works The Power of Words and The Philosophy of Composition. Although it was printed over half a century before the First World War of 1914, it's been exceptionally well-preserved. It includes biographical data that dates to Poe's birth in 1809. They don't make books this good anymore, and I don't think they ever will; I would snag this one before it's gone.

This is an exquisite and sought-after Poe book from the 19th century, capturing the haunting essence of one of America's most celebrated literary figures, Edgar Allan Poe. This literary gem, treasured by collectors and literature enthusiasts, embodies the enigmatic and macabre spirit that defined Poe's genius.

This rare 19th-century edition boasts a collection of Poe's most beloved and chilling poems. Within its pages, readers can immerse themselves in the atmospheric realms of "The Raven," "The Bells," and "Annabelle Lee," among many others. Each story, crafted with Poe's signature poetic language and psychological depth, evokes a sense of foreboding and suspense, leaving an indelible mark on the reader's imagination.

Accompanying the text are mesmerizing illustrations that further enhance the haunting nature of Poe's tales. Hand-drawn in intricate detail, these evocative engravings mirror the darkness and despair that permeate the stories, capturing the essence of Poe's macabre vision.

The rarity of this edition lies not only in its literary significance but also in its scarcity. With only a limited number of copies, this book is a testament to Edgar Allan Poe's enduring legacy and profound influence on the Gothic genre.

For collectors and literary enthusiasts alike, acquiring this 19th-century masterpiece is akin to possessing a piece of literary history—a gateway into the world of one of the greatest literary minds ever.

The overall condition of this book is good despite being printed over three decades before the First World War of 1914. It has some standard aging attributes associated with a book printed in the 1800s. This includes age, shelf wear, and handling use to the covers, which include small scratches, blemishes, rubbing, and normal aging, although they still display beautifully. The interior pages are naturally age-toned; some will contain the old-fashioned age spot, foxing, and a small stain or mark here or there. Despite age, it is tightly bound, complete, and very beautiful.

Regarding the terrible end of Poe's life, I have probably studied that as much as I have his literary works. On September 27, 1849, Poe was supposed to board a ferry from Richmond, Virginia, to Baltimore, Maryland, and then on to New York, but he disappeared for days and was later found outside a bar "serving as a polling station" one cold day. He was wearing someone else's clothes, a beaten-up straw hat, and was in terribly bad condition. During this time, there were gangs that would take people off the streets, force them to drink, beat them, and change their clothes to vote multiple times. I will let you decide for yourself...
