Philadelphia: Jacob Johnson, 1807. Fold-out frontispiece plate, "The age of a horse by his teeth". 27 pages + 4-page index. Paper is toned, rarel light staining. 79 conditions and maladies of the horse and their remedies are listed; among them a "pissing ball" to promote urine- rosin three ounces, three ounces of salt of prunel, a sirup of marsh mellows on eounce, oil of turpentine three drachms. Housed in a custom cloth chemise and slipcase with black leather spine label. Quite an unusual manual on the care of horses, rare to have survived in this condition. . We found one for sale at auction in the past 30 years. . First Edition. Marbled-paper Wrappers. Edges Worn. 4' x 2 5/8".
