Paris: F. Bechet and A. Egron, 1817. First Edition First Printing . Hardcover. Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Octavos. xxx, 403, [2]; 394, [2] pages. Hardcovers bound in dark green half leather with marbled paper-covered boards. The bindings show some wear but are quite sound with sturdy hinges. The rear hinge on Volume 1 is scuffed with the untreated leather exposed. There is a white scuff mark on the front cover of Volume 1 at the bottom left corner. Bindings tight. Marbled endpapers. The text is a little toned and has some occasional foxing, but overall the text appears clean. Half title to Volume 1 appears to be a little loose. SIGNED Bechet (one of the publishers) on the verso of the title page to authenticate this edition as not being a pirated edition. Text is in French. A translation of the title into English is, "The Colonies and the Present Revolution of America.

De Neuville, Bayard, Morin, Valnay, and Other Eminent French Artists. Quartos. Variously paginated. 5 VOLUME SET. Hardcovers nicely re-bound in 20th Century 3/4 red morocco with marbled paper covered boards. Five raised spine bands. Bindings are in very nice condition, showing only light wear. New endpapers. This the illustrated edition. Dated 1886 on the copyright page of each volume. Text is a little toned but generally clean. A few award cards from the early 20th century have been placed loosely within a couple of the volumes. An exceptional set with great shelf appeal.

London: William Pickering, 1848. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Octavo. x, 264; 334 pages. TWO VOLUME SET.Volume one is 1848, volume two is 1852. Hardcovers bound in original brown cloth with white paper title labels on the spines. The bindings are rubbed and bumped, and the spine ends are fraying. There is also some splitting on the outer rear hinge of Vol. I. The labels are toned, rubbed and chipped. Damping on the rear board of volume one and the front board of volume two. There is a prior owner's 20th century bookplate on the front pastedown of both volumes. Hinges are secure. Some slight damping at the lower right corner of the text block on both volumes, not affecting the text. Text is toned. Publisher's four-page catalogue at the front of each volume.

Paris: Dupuis Dumarsais, Edit. / Magen, Libraire, 1838. 2nd Edition . Leather Bound. Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Octavos. 5 Volume set. 394; 492; 546; 482; 480 pages. Each volume is dated 1838 and is stated "Seconde Edition." Hardcovers bound in three-quarter leather with marbled paper-covered boards. All volumes rebacked with modern lighter brown leather (the original leather has chipping on the boards near the spines, but with the rebacks the bindings are sturdy and can withstand confident use). Each spine has a red leather title label and a small green leather Volume number label. There is moderate wear to the bindings, which is abraded in places. Rubbing and scuffing to the boards. Spines are sound and hinges are secure. The outer edge of the text block is speckled. The interior pages show occasional spotting and foxing, and in Volume IV there is a bit of damping at the top of the text block. Collates complete with all maps and plates, including 3… Read More

Octavos. 451; 490; 487; 473; 388; 540, [1] pages. [LACKS ALL MAPS]. Hardcovers bound in original full leather. The bindings are worn and scuffed and a bit dry. Volume I has been rebacked in leather with the original spine laid down. New endpapers in all of the volumes. Although worn, the set is fairly sound. Headcap of the spine on Volume II is chipped. Text is toned and foxed. The text blocks are sound. The leaf for pages 245-246 in Volume one has a 3 1/2 inch tear running from the fore edge straight into the text. Lacks all of the maps, although it appears they were never bound in (no plate marks or sign of cut pages).
