Paris: F. Bechet and A. Egron, 1817. First Edition First Printing . Hardcover. Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Octavos. xxx, 403, [2]; 394, [2] pages. Hardcovers bound in dark green half leather with marbled paper-covered boards. The bindings show some wear but are quite sound with sturdy hinges. The rear hinge on Volume 1 is scuffed with the untreated leather exposed. There is a white scuff mark on the front cover of Volume 1 at the bottom left corner. Bindings tight. Marbled endpapers. The text is a little toned and has some occasional foxing, but overall the text appears clean. Half title to Volume 1 appears to be a little loose. SIGNED Bechet (one of the publishers) on the verso of the title page to authenticate this edition as not being a pirated edition. Text is in French. A translation of the title into English is, "The Colonies and the Present Revolution of America.

Hardcovers bound in original brown cloth with white paper title labels on the spines. The bindings are rubbed and bumped, and the spine ends are fraying. There is also some splitting on the outer rear hinge of Vol. I. The labels are toned, rubbed and chipped. Damping on the rear board of volume one and the front board of volume two. There is a prior owner's 20th century bookplate on the front pastedown of both volumes. Hinges are secure. Some slight damping at the lower right corner of the text block on both volumes, not affecting the text. Text is toned. Publisher's four-page catalogue at the front of each volume.
