About This Item
London: Penguin, Viking, 2016. First edition. Cloth. Fine. 9.5" by 6.5". None. A fine, limited edition of John Le Carre's classic autobiographical work. Signed by him to the title page, in the original pictorial slipcase. Limited to only 100 copies, this is numbered 35 to the title page, with Le Carre's signature.John Le Carre, a pseudonym for David John Moore Cornwell, was a noted espionage novelist. His spy novels were award-winning and drew on his own experiences with the Security Service and the Secret Intelligence Service. A compilation of old and new material, this work reflects on his career as a spy and gives an insight into the aspects of his life that influenced his fiction. Presented as a series of short stories told from the late author's memory. He recounts Hollywood experiences and tense interactions with spies he angered with his novels. This is Le Carre's first and only memoir, and is both funny and incisive. It reads into events with a similar moral ambiguity to his novels. The reader learns of over six decades of experiences. In the publisher's original cloth binding. With original slipcase. Externally, both are fine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Slipcase is FINE. Fine
