About This Item
New York, New York, U.S.A.: Farrar, Straus & Giroux, 1986. First English Language Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/Near Fine. The famed psychoanalyst & advocate for abused children offers a collection of her own paintings, produced as she struggled to come to grips with her own abusive childhood. She explores the connection between such childhoods & creative activities that allow "us to come to grips with the demons of our past, to give form to the chaos within us & thereby master our anxiety." 161 pages with text & 66 full-color, full-page water color paintings. Originally published in German in 1985 as "Bilder einer Kindheit," this is the FIRST EDITION in English from 1986, translated by Hildegarde Hannum. Oblong hardcover is actually Near Fine, but downgraded to VG+ due to these flaws: 1) slight dust soiling to top outer page edges & a spot to bottom outside page edges, 2) ffep has been sliced out (photo 3), presumably to remove former owner's information/inscription. Otherwise, the book is exceptionally clean, binding tight & square, white pages. Price-clipped DJ is Near Fine, with virtually no edgewear, but slight yellowing & rubbing; nicely protected in new mylar cover Free! Our photos depict the Exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have! Same day shipping on all orders received by 2 pm Pacific time (PST); later orders, weekends & holidays ship very next business day.
