Complete in one volume. Green silk decoratively blindstamped with black in a rope pattern and with elaborate gold decoration on front board and spine. Frontispiece engraving by J. C. Buttre. Floral endpapers. 513 pp., 2 pp. advertising. Antique ex-library with hand-numbered and hand-dated (1883) bookplate purchased directly from library started by another Captain, William Sturgis. Spine cloth torn along edges, needing to be set down, front hinge cracked, book shaken, old waterstain to first signature (which is loose) and part of frontispiece, discoloration to rear board. Light foxing. Still uncommon title in earliest American edition noted. Fair..
