Orig. 3/4 black leather and cloth, T.e.g. Small amount of light scattered foxing, else very good. Dornbusch I, VT-69. Printed presentation plate on front pastedown, "Compliments of Maj. L.A. Abbott, U.S.A." The name "A. Atwater" written by hand. Alonzo Atwater is listed as a member of Co. C of the 10th Vermont. "Abbott's diary of service in the 10th Vermont spans only the last seven months of 1864; much material was added to `correct false history' relative to Sheridan's Valley Campaign"-Nevins, I, p.49.
